POWER SERVERS AND IBM i SYSTEMS USERS
30% of IBM i users have only 1 Power System. This shows the true potential of these machines. Only 1 is enough to efficiently and securely run a whole company.
60% have between 2-10. With this many of IBM Power Systems you can easily run a multimillionaire global business. But you already know this.
Surprisingly 62% of the survey takers say they have less than 500 users on IBM i.
TECHNOLOGIES AND TRENDS
We can safely say: COBOL is past. It is still used with RPG together though.
.NET, J2EE, node.js, Swift, Android… You can use modern programming languages on your IBM i and you should!
There are no two identical business needs. Almost three quarters of the survey takers have custom-developed code! It is the most efficient and has the lowest TCO on the long run!

PRESENT AND FUTURE OF IBM i (AS/400)
IBM i (AS/400) has been with us for 30 years… The majority of the users have been using it for 10+ years. And of course there are new entrants, too!
Almost HALF of the survey takers plan to still use IBM i (AS/400) after 5 years! And they are right! It is still the best business orientated operating system, so why migrate away?
Modernization is always a good choice. It’s most cost-effective, and can be done relatively fast. With modern software languages and web-services you can continue to use your legacy code and core system, but it will be better, more stable, more secure, and more user friendly. Not to mention that using these techniques will also help to grow your business using IBM i!
A big part of those planning to migrate away will choose a custom developed code! We all know a tailor-made suit is always best.
The world changes, so organisations have to change too.
